“I trust the voters to do their research on who is the most qualified. I am proud of my record and experience, demonstrating my readiness on day one. It is regrettable that Jonathan Jackson’s lack of experience and record made him turn to dark money to influence voters. The 1st District deserves leadership that will prioritize their concerns about guns, economic development, and voting rights, not the self-interest of the cryptocurrency industry. The question is will he be an independent representative? There is a reason they went to Jackson – he is inexperienced and malleable, and they know I will not be bought and bossed,” said Ald. Pat Dowell, candidate for Congress in the 1st District.

Alderman Dowell announced her candidacy for Congress in January of this year. She seeks to succeed Congressman Bobby Rush, who is retiring at the end of this term. If elected, Alderman Dowell would become the first female elected to represent the 1st Congressional District.
